Projects > IR Thermal Reference Source
The IRTRS was a product designed to provide a thermal reference on command while mounted on a helicopter undercarriage. Atmospheric attenuation is avoided and a accurate reference can be obtained. A temperature command, sent by the test engineer, drives 2 independent TE elements to a specified temperature. The temperature is monitored by thermocouples mounted in close proximity to the TE elements. Additional thermocouples are sensed to insure no thermal runaway conditions occur.
Temperature values for all the thermocouples and the TE elements are sent to the user acquisition system at 1 second intervals for later analysis
Another added feature of the IRTRS is the ability to control the actuator that drives the structure into position in front of the missile and cameras under test.
All of this is controlled using a 8 32-bit multi processor from Parallax.
Software was developed using both higher level languages and assembly. The success of this project provided another demonstration of what is possible with collaboration with our customers. For more information on the IRTRS please give us a call.
